Westside K8 School creates a student-centered learning environment in which students exhibit consistent academic and personal growth using problem solving strategies. Principal’s Message
Dear Westside Community:
Happy New Year! We are excited to welcome you and your children back for an amazing second semester. This is a time for fresh starts, new goals, and continued growth. Together, we will make this semester a successful and rewarding experience for every student.
Reading
We are proud of the progress our students have made in reading so far this year! Reading is the foundation for all learning, and we encourage families to keep fostering a love for books at home. Whether it’s reading aloud together, discussing stories, or exploring new genres, every effort helps build strong literacy skills.
Math
Math is another area where we are committed to helping students thrive. This semester, we will continue using Progress Learning and Khan Academy as powerful tools to support math growth. These platforms provide personalized practice, interactive lessons, and engaging activities that reinforce classroom learning. If you have any questions or need assistance with accessing these resources, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
How you can help at home:
- Encourage your child to log in to Progress Learning regularly for targeted practice.
- Explore Khan Academy for additional lessons and videos that make math concepts clear and fun.
- Set aside a few minutes each day for math practice—it makes a big difference!
Attendance Matters
Consistent attendance is key to academic success. Please make sure your child attends school every day unless they are truly sick. Every day of learning counts, and being present helps students stay on track and engaged.

- National Junior Honor Society Induction – Celebrating academic excellence and leadership.
