Important Information

🐬 Fifth Grade SeaWorld Field Trip!

Exciting news! Our fifth-grade team at Westside is planning a field trip to SeaWorld Orlando on Friday, January 22nd, 2027! 🌊

This trip will bring our life science learning to life as students explore how animals use their physical characteristics and behaviors to survive in their environments. They’ll also get to see how plants and animals interact within ecosystems and food chains. It’s a great opportunity to connect what we’re learning in the classroom to the real world!

📅 Field Trip Details
  • Date: Friday, January 22nd, 2027
  • Departure: 8:00 AM from Westside K–8
  • Return: Approximately 3:35 PM at Westside K–8
  • Cost: $60 per student (admission and transportation)
  • SeaWorld Annual Pass Holders: $20 for transportation only

💳 Payment and Permission Slips
All field trip tickets must be purchased online through MySchoolBucks. We cannot accept cash payments.


The deadline for both payment and signed permission slips is Friday, December 18th, 2026.

A few important things to know:
  • Students must have both their payment completed and a signed permission slip submitted to be approved for the trip.
  • Students with a valid SeaWorld Annual Pass only need to pay the $20 transportation fee, but they must bring their valid pass on the day of the trip.
  • No refunds will be given once payment has been submitted.

⚠️ Behavior Expectations
Because this is a major field trip, student behavior is an important part of eligibility.

Beginning now and continuing through the day of the trip, any student who receives a behavior referral, including a bus suspension referral, will no longer be eligible to attend.

Unfortunately, refunds will not be provided if a student becomes ineligible due to a behavior referral.

We know this is a pretty firm expectation, but the goal is to make sure we’re providing a safe, positive, and enjoyable experience for everyone attending. Please take a moment to talk with your child about making good choices as we work toward this exciting trip! 😊
